Self Care Level 1

Miia’s courses are sacred spaces where ancient wisdom meets modern life. Rooted in the traditions of Tul’ix Therapy, yoga, and mindfulness, these offerings are designed to support your journey toward balance and self-discovery.

Whether you're seeking to honor the rhythms of your body, explore gentle movement, or engage in communal healing, these gatherings provide a nurturing environment to listen deeply and restore.

Join us to explore practices that honor your unique path and foster a sense of belonging and wholeness.

Join Miia Mikkilä for the first-ever Finnish-language Self Care Level 1 online course!

This course includes self-massage of the abdominal area, including the uterus, if present. We explore what happens when these vital organs fall out of balance (often even physically out of optimal place), why this happens, and how to start bringing back optimal placing and function. We cover the basics of female and male reproductive and digestive anatomy and physiology, pelvic steaming, spiritual healing, castor oil treatments, pelvic wrapping, ecospiritual herbalism, and the connection between the body and trauma. We explore our dreams through dream circles to tap into the wisdom they hold. We honour the wisdom of the lineage of this work as well as our ancestors and heritage, which begins to unfold within us through this training.

The course includes access to a Finnish-language self-care portal, which contains videos and written material to support your ongoing healing and learning journey. This online portal will stay with you.

Miia has reconnected with ancestral wisdom through studying Tul’ix therapy and serving clients in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Her Finnish roots and understanding of ancestral significance in healing are beautifully woven into this course.

No prior experience is necessary.

Self Care Level 1 supports your personal healing process and is a prerequisite if you wish to apply for the Tul’ix Practitioner (Tul’ix Indigenous Arts) professional training (Level 2) or Miia’s Belly Care Provider Training in the future.

The course is held via Zoom and includes plenty of space for movement, rest, feeling, and practical learning.

Personal sharing will not be recorded. Course content (videos and written materials) will be available for participants to support their own learning.

Please note: Receiving a certificate requires participation on all three course days.

An invitation to deepen, remember, and reconnect.

Join Miia Mikkilä and Sheena Roberts for Self-Care Level 1 training and start your path of reconnection, remembrance, and deep self-healing.

Rooted in the wisdom of the Yucatec Maya healing tradition and passed down through the lineage of Don Elijio Panti of Belize, this immersive training invites you to return to your centre—your belly, womb, and inner knowing. Through traditional healing techniques, anatomy education, and sacred self-care, you’ll learn to cultivate deeper awareness, trust, and balance in your own body.

Over three-four immersive days, we will explore the anatomy and physiology of the abdominal and pelvic organs, and what happens when these systems fall out of balance.

You will be introduced to practices that support deep healing and reconnection with your abdominal, pelvic and womb space such as:

  • Self-care abdominal massage

  • Pelvic steams and soaks

  • Castor oil therapy

  • Plant spirit medicine

  • Herbal allies

  • Trauma and the body

  • Anatomy and physiology education

  • The history and cultural lineage of this sacred work

Completion of this training certifies participants to safely practise the abdominal massage techniques on themselves and qualifies licensed practitioners to continue to Level 2 of The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® or future Tul’ix Indigenous Arts Practitioner training should they wish to.

The training will be delivered live via Zoom, with regular breaks and multiple opportunities to move away from the screen and learn through hands-on practice, meditation, and guided self-massage.

Please note: Full attendance is required to receive a certificate. The sessions will be recorded and shared only with registered participants for review.

REGISTRATION

The Tul’ix Indigenous Arts Belly Care Provider Training supports professionals and learners in offering anterior care and its variations to a wide range of clients, including basic care during all stages of pregnancy.

Receiving this beautiful work online supports those who can't travel to awaken this medicine in their bones. If you later decide to continue to the Practitioner Training (Level 2), you’ll expand your knowledge to include posterior care and additional techniques.

Please note there are no discounts offered at Practitioner classes to Belly Work Providers due to the high costs of running in-person classes.  In that case, some content will be review, but the majority will be an expansion.

The course is held over four consecutive days, with each session lasting four hours. Schedule will be confirmed soon.

Completion of Self Care (Level 1) is required before joining this training. You can find several upcoming Self Care options on the calendar page: https://www.tulixindigenousarts.com/calender

The full cost of this course is €950. A €350 deposit secures your place and grants access to the Anatomy & Physiology Portal. The remaining balance is due three weeks before the course begins.

Please note: all payments are non-refundable. However, payments can be transferred to future courses if you are unable to attend.

The course includes a daily practice treatment with a client. A “client” can be anyone aged 16 or over. Clients may be at different life stages and of any gender or ability. We ask that your client is present for the third hour of each class day. On the fourth day, you’ll need a client for the second and fourth hours (as we will complete two treatments that day). Ideally, you’ll work with several different people, some with a uterus, to gain experience in identifying and supporting uterine positioning.

A massage table is ideal but not required. Alternatively you can use a mattress, thick blanket on the floor, or a wide sofa. Please note that this will affect your body mechanics. You’ll also need plenty of blankets and some massage oil or balm. A full equipment list will be provided once your deposit has been received.

The course takes place entirely via Zoom.

After completing the training, you’ll be able to offer Belly Care sessions to your community in alignment with the teachings of Tul’ix Indigenous Arts.

Attendance is required. If you happen to miss a small portion of the teaching, all instructional parts are recorded. Personal sharings are not recorded. Recordings include only the teacher and instructional content—students and clients will not appear on the recordings.

No license is required to participate. However, each practitioner is responsible for checking local requirements to ensure safe practice. At the beginning of the course, all participants will sign a Scope of Practice agreement outlining what is and isn’t within the boundaries of this work.

There is no fee for website listing. When you feel ready, you can request to be added to the Belly Care Provider list by emailing: office@arvigotherapy.com.

The Self Care Portal is included with the Self Care training and provides essential background information. The Anatomy & Physiology Portal will be provided once your deposit is paid and must be completed before the course begins.

When the course starts, students will also receive access to the Belly Care Provider Portal to support ongoing learning.
